The Clever Wife of the 1960s Chapter 50 (Part 1)
It was only eleven o'clock when Han Guobin returned home with a truck full of supplies. All the full goods were delivered to the warehouse.
There are four baskets of eggs. Each basket of eggs can weigh dozens of kilograms. This is how much eggs there are in these four baskets.
There are also jars of cucumber, tomato pickles.
The children came over and took the tomatoes to eat, and even the children from the neighbors on both sides also took some.
Chen Rou was still sleeping in the house. Han Guobin left some for himself and brought the rest to the bun shop himself.
Aunt He, who was at the door with her grandson, saw the truck and came over with her grandson in her arms, saying, "Nephew, where did all this come from?"
"I brought them here on my way back to the village. They're all grown on our own land in the village. Please try some, Auntie." Han Guobin handed her two tomatoes.
"No, no, no." Aunt He said hurriedly.
"Auntie, please help me promote this." Han Guobin handed it to her and said with a smile, "These don't require tickets."
Aunt He understood immediately after hearing this and said with a smile, "Okay then, just wait."
She took two tomatoes and smiled as she went around her neighbors, saying, "These cucumbers, tomatoes and greens were brought here by truck. Who wants them? No tickets are needed!"
"Don't need a ticket? Where did you get it?" asked the neighbor.
"They've just been brought back from the countryside. They're grown by the villagers themselves. They're very fresh. If you go too late, they'll be gone." Aunt He said.
Many neighbors came to take a look, and found it really good, and no tickets were required, so they immediately went home to get their shopping baskets.
Word spread from one person to dozens, and most of the baskets of cucumbers, tomatoes, and cabbages that Han Guobin brought were sold out.
Han Guobin did not sell the remaining portion, but directly asked Aunt He to go back and get a vegetable basket.
"I bought vegetables today, you can keep them and sell them." Aunt He said with a smile.
"I'm not selling anymore. Auntie, you've been shouting at me, and it's almost sold out in a short time. Please go and get the vegetable basket." Han Guobin said.
Aunt He was very happy. She took her grandson back and got a vegetable basket. She gave her a handful of vegetables, a few cucumbers and four or five tomatoes.
"Will you sell it next time? I'll promote it to you, nephew." Aunt He said with a smile, "I know everyone in this area well. We've been neighbors for decades."
Han Guobin smiled and said, "I will have to ask you again next time I want to sell it to you." Then he asked her, "Auntie, do you have to take care of your grandson?"
"My son and daughter-in-law both have to go to work, and my old man has a job as a gatekeeper. I don't have much to do at home, so why don't I help take care of the children?" Aunt He smiled.
She has only one son, and of course three daughters, but they are all married, so she doesn't have to worry about them.
"That's great. It will also help the young people." Han Guobin had an idea in mind.
After chatting with Aunt He for a while, Han Guobin drove to the Transportation Department to return the car, and then went home carrying the empty basket.
When he came back, Chen Rou had already woken up and was cooking millet porridge.
"I heard from the boss that you brought a lot of cucumbers, tomatoes and cabbages. Have they all been sold?" Chen Rou asked in surprise when she saw that the basket was empty.
"Aunt He helped promote the product, and a bunch of people came over. It was sold out in no time," Han Guobin said with a smile.
Chen Rou asked, "Did you send some to Aunt He?"
"I have." Han Guobin laughed, and then talked about his plan: "Wife, the summer harvest has begun. I think we will be busy soon. I don't know when I can finish my work and come back. If you can't handle it here, can you call someone to help?"
"I have a plan too." Chen Rou nodded.
He is going on a business trip, and he won't be back until around August. Moreover, he won't be able to rest for long before he has to go on another business trip. The second half of the year is the busiest.
He was not at home and the children were still young, so she couldn't leave them all at home. So she planned to find another one at the bun shop.
"I've asked Aunt He. She wants to take care of the grandson, but she doesn't have to be too busy. Ask her to help Guoli in the morning. When it's almost daybreak, you, daughter-in-law, can go over to help and let Aunt He take care of the grandson." Han Guobin said.
Seeing that he had thought of everything for her, Chen Rou smiled and said, "Then I'll talk to Aunt He about it tomorrow."
It was just a few hours, and it wouldn't interfere with her taking care of her grandson, so Aunt He had no reason to refuse.
"Okay, okay, if you trust me, I assure you that there will be absolutely no problem. I am clean and efficient and will not bring shame to your bun shop." Aunt He said happily.
"Just don't complain about the low salary, ma'am." Chen Rou said with a smile.
"Why complain that it's too little? We're only busy for a few hours a day. That's enough." Aunt He said with a smile.
Han Guobin was indeed busy. From that day on, their fleet was requisitioned and headed south.
I received the notice from my leader while at work, so I immediately went home and told my family about it.
Chen Rou gave him a few happy endings just in case, and left him alone with the rest.
Han Guobin is on a business trip, but the house is not messy at all.
Zhang Jiang would send Han Guoli to see Aunt He every day, and then go to the bun shop with Aunt He to work. At about half past six, Chen Rou would come over with a basket of eggs.
The eggs were brought here to sell. Han Guobin brought back so many eggs that they would not be used up so quickly just by making dumplings. Her third brother would send more eggs in a few days, so there was no need to save them.
Before she came out, the eldest son, Han Hang, had already gotten up and was reciting English while looking after his younger brothers and sisters.
After Chen Rou came over, she took over Han Guoli's job and asked Han Guoli to deliver porridge to Zhang Jiang and Han Hang.
The porridge was cooked here and I took two lunch boxes back with me.
The lunch box was specially bought by Han Guobin. It was a bucket lunch box. It was not rectangular, but it was made of aluminum.
There is a side dish on a lunch box, either fried meat with mushrooms or fried eggs with leeks. The meal is quite good.
"Hurry up and get up to eat. After dinner, Haohao, you and Hanghang go to school together, Yaoyao, you play over there with Zhouzhou and the others, and you take Zhang Jiang over there." Han Guoli said.
Zhang Jiang was brushing his teeth and nodded in agreement.
Han Guoli brought the other one to Han Hang, and Han Hang went to wake up his brother and sister. As for the fourth child, he had not woken up yet and was still sleeping.
Han Guoli came to the bun shop again, drank two bowls of porridge and then helped her second sister-in-law sell buns. As for Aunt He, she had already gone back to take care of her grandson.
Her husband, son, and daughter-in-law are almost all going to work, so she has to take care of her grandson.
Chen Rou and Han Guoli were busy until after eight o'clock, when the number of customers gradually decreased. Their bun shop was very famous now, and business was very good. After all, there was only one such shop.
"Second sister-in-law, you go back first. I guess the fourth child should be getting up soon." Han Guoli said.
Chen Rou also wanted to go back, but she didn't expect to see the second brother Han Zhou with Yaoyao and Chengzi coming over as soon as she left the shop. The second brother was carrying the fourth brother on his back!
Chen Rou came over right away: "How did you get here? How do you know the way?"
"Of course I know the way. I've been here several times." Han Zhou breathed a sigh of relief after Little Fourth was taken over by his mother.
This fourth one may not look big, but it is really heavy. It made him so tired!
"Is the door locked?" Chen Rou asked.
"It must be locked then. Don't worry about me doing the job." Han Zhou said.
The little fourth child, who was held in his mother's arms, looked aggrieved, and then started to look for food.
Chen Rou laughed: "Are you hungry?"
"He must be hungry. I fed him porridge but he refused to drink it and even cried. I had no choice but to carry him over to your mother to feed him." Han Zhou said.
Chen Rou nodded, and went into the shop to feed little Lao Si, avoiding people around.
All the tables in the bun shop have been moved outside, right next to the shop. If anyone wants to eat anything, they eat it there instead of inside the shop.
The fourth little boy was obviously really hungry. He ate so much in his mother's arms that sweat broke out on his forehead. After he was full, he asked his mother to burp him and then wanted to go out and play.
"You have to quit smoking." Chen Rou said with a smile.
None of his older brothers and sisters drank milk for as long as he did, but his older brothers and sisters were not very addicted to it, only the little one really liked to drink it.
Han Guoli smiled and said, "When Zhou Zhou goes to school, I will bring him over to sleep here."
Chen Rou nodded. She also planned so. Otherwise, she would be worried about leaving the younger ones at home when her second child went to school.
After a while, Aunt He came over with her grandson in her arms. Her grandson was about the same age as the fourth child. Because the older one was a daughter and the younger one was a son, the grandson was naturally still young.
